Accident and Emergency:

Please note that A&E is intended only for serious or life threatening conditions – for example, a loss of consciousness, heavy blood loss, broken bones, persistent chest pain, difficulty breathing, overdoses, ingestion or poisoning. Minor injuries or ailments can be treated more appropriately by other NHS Services.

Alternatives to A&E:

In non-emergencies, please consider the following methods of obtaining treatment:

Call 111 24 hours a day. They can provide clinical assessment and advice and direct you to the best health service for your ailment.

Kingsthorpe Medical Centre you can book an appointment with one of our GPs or Practice Nurses if you have persistent symptoms. We offer a telephone triage service each morning with our Practice Nurse.

Ask the local Pharmacist for advice on minor illnesses. They can provide expert advice and simple treatments.

Treat yourself for minor illnesses and sprains, sore throats or a cough. Keep simple painkillers and cough remedies in a safe place at home and have a first aid kit handy.
